Something out of the ordinary...

Reading is fundamental! I decided to do something a little out of the ordinary and post some literature. I read FOR COLORED GIRLS...again a couple months ago and haven't been able to get it out of my head. This has got to be one of my favorite books! Let's see...which woman am I? I will have to get back to you on that one! I admire Ntozake Shange for telling our story. The artwork on the cover never ceases to amaze me! Now if only my BFF would return it to me, I could hang it up in my room again...smh!

O-M-G! This song brings back sooooo many memories. I used to dance with my bumble bee to this song (I won him at a carnival) LOL! Phyllis Hyman! What a voice that sista had on her! She was always soooo fly! God rest her soul! She is def. one of my favs :)

On my Betty Wright type flow...

FUNNY STORY! So...Daddy James played a joke on my mom one time and told her that I was going to sing Betty Wright's "Tonight is the Night" for the talent show! LOL. This was definitley in 9th grade or so LOL! I would always sing the song around the house, which is probably why she believed him for all of 2 minutes. LOL! R.I.P Great Grandma

This post is dedicated to my Great Grandma Tutu whose 87th Birthday was yesterday! R.I.P Grandma...I love you. This song was her jam (and the mens chourus did it at her 77th Birhthday party, 10 years ago). Enjoy this throwback! :)

No More Rain...

This song has been in a sista's spirit for sometime now! New season is approaching(summer just smacked us in the face today...88 degrees!), so its time for new things! Detoxification always does well for the mind, body and soul. Getting ready for this new season (and I don't just mean the summertime).
